Did you know that 95-99% of all blogs are abandoned within the first 2 years? Some bloggers just never learn how to drive enough supporting traffic. Some simply can’t keep up with the writing and give up. Some just never overcome the discouragement of feeling like what they write really matters. Regardless of the reason, I hate the thought that so many people fail.
Perhaps you’ve found a blog that you LOVE and want to see flourish. Ever wondered how you can help? Today I thought I would show you some simple things that you can do to support your favorite blog. I encourage you to pick the one you are most comfortable with and bless your favorite blogger. Or, better yet, go down the list and do them all. Trust me, you can’t be too big of a fan!
Leave comments on the blog post
Perhaps you feel shy or don’t think it matters if you comment. I would challenge you to step outside of those feelings. If you feel moved by a post or have something to add, please comment. I can confidently speak for other bloggers when I say, WE LOVE THIS! I am often so blessed by commenters, no matter what they have to say. By the way…there is no need to fear…your email address is never displayed or sold and you can always just comment using your first name to protect your privacy.
Subscribe to the blog via email
So many bloggers wish it wasn’t so, but we are often evaluated based on the number of subscribers that we have. Advertisers and companies put heavy weight on this one fact (even though it fails to show much about our loyal supporters!) If you love a blog, subscribe via email. The beauty of this is, you get posts delivered straight to your inbox and you never have to remember to visit. Here is my subscription box in case you haven’t subscribed, yet!

Become a fan on Social Media
Even though I have a love/hate relationship with much of social media, the reality is that it is the direction that our society is headed in. Just like when I get in my car, there are dangers and other things that I simply don’t like, but I still drive because there are great benefits to driving. Like, say…getting somewhere. I see Social media in the same light. Yes, it can suck you in and yes, it can cause issues. BUT, there are great benefits…needed encouragement, information, and love to be had. And better than that…if you like your favorite blogger, you will get updates on posts and other fun information.

Help Spread the Word
Believe it or not, a reader is the best advertising that a blog can have. If you love the blog, share it. Love a post? Share it. Pin it on interest. Post it on Facebook. Tweet it. Email links to friends or even share on forums and groups. Trust me, you make a difference!
Add the blog’s button to your blog
If you have a blog, you can help by adding a blog’s button to your sidebar. This is very simple. Just copy and paste the code that you see in the box below (you can usually find this kind of box in the sidebar of the blog). Then paste the code into an html/text widget in your theme. If you would like to do this, but have trouble, contact the blog owner for help. I’m sure they would be happy to help.

Purchase from affiliates
Ever wondered what those affiliates links are all about? Being an affiliate is a lot like being a salesperson. If I recommend something to you and you click on the link and buy that product, I receive a small commission. Simple as that! This is a great way to help your favorite blogger and her family while buying products that you were already going to buy anyway.
For my blog, you can trust that I am recommending something that I trust and love enough to share with you. No lemons here! You will find affiliates on the right sidebar, as well as, in posts. Specifically, anything that you buy from Christian Book Distributors or Dayspring will qualify as an affiliate purchase. So next time you have a need, pop over to my sidebar and click on the appropriate company!
Vote for your favorite blog
There are lots of contests and honors that a blog might earn. You can help your favorite blogger by nominating them for such honors and by voting.
Right now, I am in the running for the Top 25 Homeschooling blogs. Would you mind voting? I would be humbled to earn your vote. Simply click on the circle below. You can vote everyday until June 27th. I am currently number 117!
I hope you learned a little something today. Did you learn something new? Have you supported a blog in a different way? I’d love to hear your ideas and thoughts?

Great post, and good advice! Thank you
I agree with Mary!
This is FABULOUS. I am going to share it on my Facebook page today.
Aww…Thanks Tabitha/Penny…
Thank you for this post! As a beginning blogger I can relate to much of what you wrote. I love it when people leave me comments, so I need to stop being hesitant to leave comments on other blogs I enjoy! I also voted for you!
Thanks for your support. As a new blogger, commenting on other blogs is HUGE. I set aside time each day to do that. It gets your name out there and helps you network with other bloggers in your niche.
Excellent. You’ve inspired me. =)
Good words! There are bloggers who blog for numbers and there are bloggers who blog for people. The latter desire community and you have succinctly stated ways this can happen. Thanks!
I think is a great reminder of how to spread the love. Especially to up and coming blogs and new bloggers. I remember feeling a little left out when I first started my blog, but now I have some great friends and I’m really happy I didn’t give up.
I shared on my FB page too. :)
Thanks for sharing. I agree, it can be lonely at first, but I have been so blessed by the wonderful world of bloggers!
I am getting ready to order from CBD so I will use your sidebar when I do it!
Thanks Rachel! I really appreciate it!
I started blogging a few years ago and just as you described it fell by the wayside. I wasn’t getting very much feedback. I basically went on an 18 month hiatus. I’m writing again and determined to push ahead whether or not the only one reading it is my husband! I believe God has given me a gift and whether or not I get a lot of traffic is not the main purpose. To inspire or touch just one person is worth it. Thanks for the reminders to support other bloggers out there. It really is important!
Thank you for sharing, Cheryl. I have seen God do amazing things through my blog. I am humbled and honored to be a part of His plans. Even if it’s all about a handful of readers! Stick with it. So many people care!
Twice already have I deleted my blog and given up in total disappointment. I have LOST in excess of over 1000 posts. Yep. That’s a lot of days to blog. That’s a lot of show and tell time.
This time I’m up to my 3rd serious attempt to blog. I don’t hold much hope for it because of past experience.
Thank you for your post. That in itself is encouraging.
)
Deborah…I am so glad that you are encouraged. If this is God’s thing for you, there is always hope!
People always ask me how I have time to blog (with 3 small kids) and honestly, it isn’t the actually writing of the blog that’s time consuming…it’s the reading of other blogs and commenting on them. But I love the comments as well and really want that community of involved readers so it’s worth it.
I hear ya. Comments and emails do take a lot of time, but I really LOVE connecting!
