Ultimate Guide to Christmas Countdowns

The leaves are quickly falling and the trees becoming bare. It’s likely that you’ve begun to think about how you will celebrate Christmas. Will you use an advent or Christmas countdown? Here are a few of my favorites, plus several excellent resources to aid in the planning process.

Great for any age

Gloria: A Christmas Hymn Study A 92-page study of the classic hymns that tell about Jesus’ birth. Where did they come from? What do they mean? We will answer these questions and more as we journey from the Old Testament to the cross. Each hymn includes the story behind the lyrics, sheet music, tin whistle fingerings, copywork, and a study of the Scripture.

Gloria A Christmas Hymn Study. A 92 page study of history, scripture and fun!

Celebrate Jesus is a wonderful resource for any family as they journey together toward that special night in Bethlehem that changed the world. The resource includes recipes and crafts, readings and added links for coloring pages and books. There is also a Scripture study for older students and parents.

  9. I have a wooden Advent calendar with drawers that I fill for my son. Each year, I try to come up with something different, creative, and Christ-centered to put in the drawers. A couple years ago, I decided to fill each drawer with a page of an original Christmas story.

That story has now been refined, illustrated, and published as “The Innkeeper’s Dog.” It’s about Thaniel the Spaniel, the only animal in the stable who missed seeing Baby Jesus. The story tells how Thaniel’s friends and the innkeeper’s son help him feel special and realize all the gifts he has to offer. To order, visit:
