  1. Kinda concerned for my three year old boy. He is the youngest and oh so active! But, by far unschooling my oldest who is in 3rd grade has been rough. He spent 3 yrs in public and I feel like a huge percentage of it I’m having to unravel because his perception of himself was so bad! ? He loves homeschool but sonetimes doesn’t focus well however we seem to be improving now. He craved the one on one attention so bad and he didn’t get it much in public.

  2. A loaded question, where to begin…I think the first thing I can change and redirect is MY focus off my child’s demeanor and more on not equating her restlessness to my performance. Going to redirect my focus and additionally help hers with perhaps a sensory mat underfoot(I mean LITERALLY, like a mat you’d wipe your dirty shoes on), a visual timer, being okay with imperfection. So hard.

  3. I have been homeschooling my daughter for several yrs and now she is a freshman, she’s pretty easy but my 5 yr old is very hyper and really defiant , some days it’s a struggle to get him to do anything at all I worry so much about him being behind academically or never learning to read.. my anxiety gets the best of me.. I need to feel like eventually all will be ok and fall into place?

  4. ? I hadn’t thought to have weights so he can “pump iron.” Thanks. We are in kindergarten. I love the days he is zooming around more because I know the next day, he will have complete memory/understanding of his lessons. I really enjoy your posts and am looking to order several things soon. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

  5. Thank you for this article! My 4 yr old is a jumping climbing bouncing machine. And while I’ve learned a lot for the preK years and learning thru play, I’ve been a bit nervous for the older years. This helps me more than you know! Now i need to get your Bible studies for primary!

  6. Well, we have a skin issue with one of my boys and his doctor has recommended trying to take him off of gluten to help. So we will be trying that.

  7. Spot on! One of our goals for homeschooling was the teach the kids not what to learn but HOW to learn. That really served them well once they reached high school and college. My oldest is almost 25 and still loves learning new things.

  8. My kids go to a private Christian school and my 6 year old who is in kindergarten has so many bad notes about his behavior… I want to homeschool so bad but I’m single mom as well with five kids. I don’t think I could do all required especially as they get older. The curriculum gets harder! Would that even be possible? They are smart and love learning but they have sooo much homework my 5th grader is burnt out… I wish it could be different.. I have to work.

  9. My 7 year old walks on the table, and jumps between the couch and the chairs, when she’s supposed to be doing math, while my 4 year old climbs on me like I’m a human ladder. Right now they’re playing soccer in the living room. Thanks for this reminder. I’ll try to be more patient, worry less, and vary where we do school. My only remaining concern is that children need proper posture to do their best with writing. They can’t write well if they’re standing on their heads or hanging off the ceiling fan. I guess keeping lessons short will help in this regard.
