Babba Box: An Activity Box for kids {review}

I love crafts. No really. Even Pinterest makes me happy. Ribbons, bows, and little boxes filled with paint.  I could sit and dream all day about the fun adventures we will have. But there is one little issue….TIME.  Even with the best intentions, I simply can not put together the crafts and activities that swirl around in my head. Laundry, toilets, dinner and about a million other little check-boxes fill my days and I am often left with nothing but wishful thinking.

You can imagine my excitement when I was asked to review a BabbaCo box! Stocked with organized packets of theme related fun the Babba Box made my heart melt.  Not even having a clue what was inside, the kids were anxious to bust open the box. And the contents did not disappoint!

The theme of our box was rainbows and began with a sweet story about a little boy who chases rainbows all around town only to end up finding one right in his own home. The story was sweet and the boys asked to reread it several times.

As soon as the story was over, we were excited to chase our own rainbows using the prism. Held up to a window and angled, a prism will shine a rainbow onto the floor, table or wall. I am not at all exaggerating when I tell you that the kids had a BLAST doing this. And even better than that, I loved all of the vocabulary that they were getting from the experience: prism, angle, refraction.

We ventured outside to create rainbows by blowing bubbles the usual way. AND by creating our own bubble wands. As you can see, even though the Babba Box is geared toward 3-6 year olds, all of my kids were excited about this activity.

We also created a hat that you can see in the video below. Although only one hat was included, it was so precious to watch my girls help their brother design and create his rainbow hat.

Once our activities were complete, I was excited to see that the Babba Box was not finished. With a quick click, we went online to several great bonus activities including crafts, a free app, and other literature suggestions.

Why should you get a Babba Box?

  • Our Babba box encouraged natural learning and exploration through a fun science-related theme.
  • I love that the box invited quality family time.
  • Simple, yet meaningful activities kept me from spending hours of prep work or direction-reading before the activities could be completed.
  • Oh, and did I mention that EVERYTHING is INCLUDED. There were no last minute trips to the craft store to pick up missing pipe cleaners or sequins. As soon as we had the free time available, I simply picked up a packet and started having fun.

And if those reasons aren’t enough, watch this video to hear how my 4 year old son felt about it!
