My kids absolutely love charades. I can’t figure out exactly what the attraction is to the age-old game, but I can tell you that it never gets old for them.
If we have a few minutes to wait in the doctor’s office, they have been known to jump up and start a game (even if I stay totally uninvolved).
So I figured a good old-fashioned Charades Family Fun Night was in order. But like every family fun night around here, we had to mix it up a little bit. Enter Bible charades. The game is exactly like the traditional version of charades, but the topic is limited to things from the Bible.
A player simply chooses a card from the basket and acts out what is on the card. The player cannot speak at all during the acting. The other players must guess what they are acting out. We did add one rule to our version: the actor tells the guessers what category the clue is in.
There are four categories in the game: people in the Bible, places in the Bible, things in the Bible, and events in the Bible. Some of the cards are naturally much harder than others, especially the places.
If you have younger children, you might want to make sure they get a card they can handle. In our house, the little ones put cards back until they get one they know how to act out. Mom usually helps with that.
