If you are anything like me, sometimes family fun night comes along and you are super tired. This past week was one of those. It was such a long week that I simply couldn’t muster up the energy for a game of balloon hockey or glow stick frisbee. I knew it was one of those nights when snuggling on the couch with an ipad sounded much better.
So we did. But, of course I had to tweak it. I mean after all, what fun would it be if a bunch of people sat around on devices and just ignored each other? That wouldn’t be much of a family fun night! So I made a rule, we could only play games that everyone could play.
It all started with Bloop Tabletop Finger Frenzy. Let me tell you, this game is so much fun that no one will want to stop. Even my 3 year old could easily play this finger-tapping game. The goal is simple: tap the most squares of your color. Trust me, fingers will be flying!
Next we moved on to Mad Libs. You probably remember Mad Libs from when we were kids. The object of the game is to create a silly/crazy story by putting in random nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Shh…don’t tell the kids that this is a GREAT grammar lesson! With a little help, my 3 year old was loving this game, too. I was so impressed at the great words that every one came up with, and of course, we laughed ourselves silly!
Just when I thought that there was no way that this family fun night could get any better, we opened up Ticket to Ride. This award-winning board game has turned digital and it’s amazing. Up to 5 players can play on one ipad as you pass the fun back and forth. This game is full of strategy so the little guys might not be as interested, but my other children loved it. I know this will be a new family favorite.
