Life is hard.
Babies cry all night. Mountains of laundry taunt from every corner of the house. Dishes never get done and the kids have yet to find something that everyone can agree on. No matter how much we try, money is often an issue. Threats of corporate lay-offs keep us up at night. Cancer wreaks havoc on innocent children. And more and more marriages crumble.
I used to think that if I could just get through this one phase, life would magically get better. The older I get, the more I see how silly that notion was. With each new phase of life comes various trials and hardships, some the same as before and some I couldn’t have even fathomed.
The truth is, it’s easy to let life consume us. It’s easy to throw up our hands and just give up hope of ever keeping our heads above water. But just because it’s easy, doesn’t make it good. In fact, this kind of attitude will keep us in bondage to the circumstances of life forever more. Now seriously, we don’t want that, do we?
I know you don’t. And neither do I. That’s why I put together this little page. It’s my desire to equip you with all the tools you need to reclaim your life from the grip of circumstances. Let’s dig in…
Free email devotional
First things first. We need to be spending as much time in God’s Word as possible. I’ve written a 31-day devotional email series to help us spend time in the Word while we conquer the issues that are consuming us. It’s totally FREE. All you need to do is click the box below and sign up. If you’d like to read more about the series, you can do that here.
Bible study helps
Throughout the email series, I mention many of the resources that I am listing below. Let’s start with my favorite Bible study helps. These items are the actual items I use every single day to help me get the most out of what I’m studying. Of course they aren’t the only ones out there, I just happen to think they are the best.
Christian living books
Although the Bible is my primary source of information, I love having other Christian living resources to help me navigate some of the hard things in life. We will start with my general recommendations. These are books I think everyone should read sometime in their life because they are just that good!
Books for the storm
Sometimes when life hits us hard, we need some help getting our minds set straight. These books are particularly good for those walking through the storm. The trouble is, we need to be ever so careful that we are filling our minds with truth and not just stuff that will make us feel better. Over the years, I’ve read each of these and found tremendous comfort, strong Biblical truth, and encouragement to keep walking in the faith.
Books for walking through divorce
First let me say that I am firmly against divorce in almost all cases. But sometimes we don’t get to choose and I’m fully aware that sometimes people make bad decisions. If you are walking through a divorce, these books are invaluable resources. There are thousands on the topic, but I’m rather picky about what I’m willing to read concerning this.
I have a collection of free printables to help encourage you as you navigate the waters of the storms in life. I always recommend printing on cardstock and using your printer’s highest quality setting. Most of the time you need to adjust this in the print setup page on your computer. It will be set for a lower quality to save ink.
For single prints, consider framing them for extra beauty. For the Scripture cards, I print on cardstock and laminate with this laminator. Then I put them in a 3×5 card box for storage. You can find a pretty one at Michaels or even Target.
