  1. You have many of our favorites! Each year I wrap our christmas books and the kids unwrap one a day and many we do a special activity with also. One book we love that you didn’t mention is The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, a sweet story of the nativity. You have to check it out!

  2. My kids love “Room for a Little One”, but the real hit at Christmas is always “Mortimer’s Christmas Manger”. It’s the story of a mouse that discovers the true meaning of Christmas after repeatedly evicting “baby Jesus” from the warmth of the nativity scene the home’s family had set up when he becomes unhappy with his “dark, cold, creepy” hole in the wall.

  3. We love “One Wintry Night!” A great colorful story that goes from creation to salvation! A must read over several nights!

  5. I am going to look for some of these to add to our collection for next year!
My favorite that we already own is “Who is Coming to Our House?” where the barn animals are preparing the stable for Jesus’ arrival. I’m already excited to read it again this year.
“Christmas in the Manger” by Nola Buck and Felicia Bond is a sweet board book for young children.
And the “Poky Little Puppy’s First Christmas” isn’t a Christian book, but it is a cute story of how the puppy learns that he gets just as much joy out of giving a gift as he does getting gifts.
Planning to wrap my books tonight to start off the Advent reading tomorrow night!

  7. We have “the Christmas Child” and “Jacob’s Gift” as one-night read alouds However, ever since listening to radio theater broadcasts out of Moody Bible Institute as a kid, I always think of the book, “Treasures of the Snow” at Christmas time. This one will take several nights of reading but is such a great story with a wonderful lesson of forgiveness

  8. This one isn’t really a Christmas book, but it is one of our favorite books. The Three Trees. If you haven’t read this story, it tells the story of the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of 3 trees that all had magnificent dreams of how tall they would grow and how great their uses would be. And all 3 trees were used for simple, lowly things, but all used by Jesus. I always need a tissue to read this one.

  12. ‘Little Star’: I can’t remember the authors but you’ll easily google it. About the Christmas Star and how it lit the stable at Bethlehem and through his love warmed the baby Jesus. Read over and over in our house and brings a lump to my throat every time! Lovely illustrations too. Highly recommended.
    Thanks for the list!
(Also a quick mention for the Christmas chapters in the Bullerby books by Astrid Lingrid – again read over and over again in our house, lots of Christian references.)

  13. They were already mentioned in other comments, but I have to second “Who is Coming to Our House?” It’s a board book perfect for babies and toddlers with great illustrations and rhymes. And my all time favorite is “Room for a Little One.” The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL, and I tear up every. single. time. No exaggeration.

  14. FOLLOW that STAR by Kenneth Oppel is a fantastic shepherd story…but with quite a different spin from the true Biblical story. This picture book would be a great read aloud to Gr 2/3 up…independent reading for most grade 3 students.

  15. The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Wojciechowski is one of our favorites. Also, Mary’s Treasure Box by Kramlich, which is Jesus mother Mary sharing the story with her granddaughter through objects she’s saved in a box. Christmas Tapestry and Great Joy are for the elementary age, and create great discussions, too.

  16. A book that I read every year is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I don’t remember the Author, but it is one that I will get for my kids when they have kids.

  17. It’s already been mentioned, but The Miracle of Jonathan Toomey is my favorite. It makes me cry every time I read it because the love and patience of a widow and her house g boy change the heart of a grumpy, hurt widower.
