    1. I disagree with the statement you made in Lie #4. God does not give us more than we can handle. You have to know how to handle hard situations. I handle all my situations through Christ and not on my own. It is only when you don’t understand how to handle the tribulation that it seems like it is getting the best of you. Job never let the loss of his children, his health, or his money shake him because he knew who was holding him and keeping him, even at the worst time in his life. But those of us who know where to run when trouble arises have learned how to handle any problem that comes our way. Nothing should overtake me or defeat me because Jesus is my shelter and my fortress.

  1. Kim, thank you for this wonderful article! You do not know me, but I know you through a friend, and my daughter met your daughter at the Logos Theatre. I feel that I have so much in common with you as I was once a homeschooling single mom, and I have read your short biography with interest and empathy! Anyway….this piece just nails it! I have seen so much, especially online by CHRISTIANS, that just don’t add up to what the Bible teaches. Remember, about a year ago, the saying “You are Worthy”?? So, where did we ever get that idea? And, the ME TIME thing…oh, we need to get back to scripture SO badly!
Thank you, thank you…I am going to post this on my facebook. By the way, we have the TO EVERY NATION missionary Bible study, and we just love it. We are learning so much, including several truths that you brought out here. May the Lord continue to bless you and you yours!

  2. Very well said, on all points. Thank you for this article. It’s nice to see the truth lifted high and false teachings exposed for the lies they are.

  3. This was wonderfully and thoughtfully written. I agree with each point. Thank you!

  4. Hi Kim, how are you and the kids? Thanks so much! It was very insightful. Forwarding to the rest of my sisters. God bless you!

  5. Great reminders! It is so easy to fall into the trap of believing lies when we hear them all the time. We just read and discussed this list as a family and had a great time talking through a few that seem so “innocent,” yet don’t align with God’s word. Thank you!

  6. Awesome Kim! Can’t wait to check out your study in person at TTD Nashville later this week – woot woot! I hope you’ll develop a session on this content – it’s so true and so important!!!

  7. Such a great list, even if it isn’t a complete exhaustive one. I am looking forward to doing this study with my kids. Please pray for my family as we have never done one before and I am nervous to start!

  8. I would’ve titled it different, more like deceptions or lies we believe because the crucial distinction is that false teaching is running rampant in the church and no one is addressing that, and that is the terrifying reality and slow decay of our society. People are sitting in church thinking they’re good they’re saved when they might not be. And yet pastors across the country preach falsely to tickle the ears. We’re in the mess right now because so few will confront hard truth and call out sin and repentance. It’s crickets.

  9. Great read! I am going to display these on our fridge for daily reminders to my children. Our world won’t be perfect, but our Heaven sure will be because of His love, grace, and mercy!

  10. I am adding on my list this lie…..
“……….. is not in the Bible, so God doesn’t have an opinion on it, I can choose my own path.”
    Truth:
God cares about every choice you make in your life, and He has given us everything we need to know His heart in ANY matter. He teaches us through His Word, we need to read it.
Eccl. 1:9 says “..there is no new thing under the sun.”
2 Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”
2 Titus 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
Prov. 6:23 “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.”

  11. This article right here, brings me so much joy. I know time is winding down and the Lord is soon to return, and we should be spreading the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I started my Youtube channel just recently, but I know I didn’t want people to see me, I wanted them to only see God. So I was so nervous and still am nervous in doing it, because I don’t want to have to answer for false teaching or manipulating the word. You know sometimes we quote a scripture to a situation and not have the complete understanding of it and it actually sends the wrong message. Or we talk out of our feelings and pass them as what God says. I’ve done that before: walking as a believing unbeliever. This really opened my eyes, and I certainly agreed with a lot of things that was mentioned: especially the heart thing! God bless you, and your children. I pray rest, peace, and favor upon you.

  12. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 It doesn’t say God will not tempt us but says He will not allow us to be tempted will show us a way of escape!

    1. Hi Judy,
Thanks for your thoughts. This verse actually doesn’t say anything at all about God tempting us. It simply says that we are not tempted any differently than the next person and that God provides a way out. We know that temptation comes from 3 places: our flesh, the world, and Satan. James 1:3 reinforces that God doesn’t tempt us.

  13. I was looking for “false teaching today that creeps into the church” for a women’s study on Jude follow up and ran across this. Although my audience is different, I really appreciate the content and approach: identify the false thing and contrast it with the truth. Thank you!
