Free Printable Christmas Scripture Cards
Christmas Scripture Cards are not only a wonderful gift, they are a blessing and encouragement to the people in your life.
You remember the ever-so-popular Christmas favorite, A Charlie Brown Christmas? I must admit I’ve struggled to understand why people like to watch this depressing cartoon. There is certainly nothing holly or jolly about Charlie Brown.
But there is something very familiar. Despite the fact that everyone around him is having an amazing holiday season, Charlie Brown finds the jolly of the season nauseating to his lonely heart. His sentiment is all too familiar when he opens up his mailbox longing for just one Christmas card, only to find it empty.
“I know nobody likes me. Why do we have to have a holiday season to emphasize it?” he laments.
Truth be told, Christmas isn’t merry for everyone. In fact, it can be one of the hardest times of the year. All the hurt and trials this world brings can sink heavy into our hearts as the “halls are decked with holly.”
You can probably think of someone right now who is struggling (maybe even you).
This Christmas, there are people who will face their first Christmas without a loved one. People battling cancer, chemo, and the haunting of “what-if.” There are families struggling to make ends meet due to unemployment or other financial hardships.
And there are millions of single parents out there wallowing in the brokenness of spending the holidays without their kids.
Yes, pain and struggle are still here even when the world decks the halls and sings out with jolly. And trust me when I say that there aren’t enough candy canes, sleigh rides, or reindeer to make their hearts bright.
But… there is hope.
As Charlie Brown finally figures out, there is a light in the darkness. There is hope for the brokenhearted. And it’s all about Jesus. The whole season. In the end, his friends finally gather around his meager little tree and they surround him with “Christmas.”
Friend, I pray that if there is pain in your heart this year you will find the HOPE that is lying in that manger. I pray that you will feel God’s love for you and rest in the promise that He will never leave… even when the darkness surrounds. I pray that if you are one of the many who will celebrate this holiday alone, you will cling to His truth that you are loved, chosen, and treasured.
I’ve made you some Christmas Scripture Cards. They are simply the verses I cling to when I feel that cold bitterness begin to haunt. They are the truths I claim so that my heart will not give in to the lies of loneliness and despair.
Think of them as my gift to you. Think of them as your Charlie Brown Christmas made brighter.
I pray that you will print them off and post them around your house or put them in your purse. Whatever it takes to remind yourself that God is still God. He is good and gracious and He is always working things for our good.
Give the Gift of Christmas Scripture Cards
I would also encourage you to give the gift of HOPE and promise to your friends. There are so many people hurting. Reach out and offer them something no other gift can offer… light in the darkness.
You can print these Christmas Scripture Cards completely free. I recommend printing them on cardstock paper. I cut them with our paper cutter, but you could use scissors, too. Then bind them together with a ribbon from your local craft store.
It would make a lovely gift with an inspirational mug. (I love this one and this one.) You might even add in some pretty tea bags. I usually buy a box of Christmas tea and add the bags to gifts throughout the season.
They would also be beautiful in a 3×5 card box. Craft stores have these for great prices this time of year. I’ve even found them for $1.
Of course, don’t get caught up in spending money on this. The Christmas Scripture Cards would be a welcome gift just as they are! Taking the time to print out and collect these cards for someone will touch their heart. You’ll be glad you did it!
Pass on your Christmas Scripture Cards
Another idea for your Christmas Scripture Cards is to pass them along throughout the season. Whether it’s the checkout line or the doctor’s office, pass out a few everywhere you go.
We often pass out tracts as we are out and about in the community. Why not do something special for Christmas? My kids enjoy finding people or places to stick these Christmas Scripture Cards so they will provide encouragement to whoever finds them! You could even put your church’s address on the back and invite the person to join you this Sunday!

I wanted to let you know that the Christmas cards were part of a miracle gift I gave a grieving elderly mom who lost her only son earlier this year. I printed your cards to send and then I wrote a letter to her. As I was rereading the letter and about to send the package off, our cat jumped up on the counter into a bowl of water. She shook her paws off and got the letter wet. After the 3-page letter dried, the words that had gotten wet and smudged jumped right off the page! The words were ‘A’ ‘Son’ ‘To’ ‘God’ ‘For’ ‘Love”. God was sending a message to this poor women. If only we had the eyes to see all the ways he speaks to us! Amen! I immediately realized that God had taken this humble gift and multiplied the 5 loaves and 2 fishes to send a heartbroken mother a message of hope to heal her broken heart. She cried so much when she received the gift. But I am happy to report that the sting of losing her son is not as painful now and joy has returned to her heart. She now understands that soon she will be with her son for eternity and this life on earth pales into comparison to the gift of eternal life that Jesus gave us. I hope this message blesses your heart and reminds you that when we bring our meager little 5 loaves and 2 fishes, that God multiplies it. That is how this dark and hurting world is changed for the better. So I offer this little message of hope to you because you brought your 5 loaves and 2 fishes and you shared it with me and a grieving mom. Thank you so very much for sharing! The gift of the cards alone would have touched her heart because they are so beautiful! Ty!

These are so wonderful! Thank you so much!! I printed mine on Metallic Astrobright cardstock and they look soo cute! We have them on our mini Easel on the dining room table and will read one once a day. I also plan to print more and give as gifts to moms with little ones at home where advent is often hard to get going but if you can just share one verse a day with your kiddo you feel like you are doing something special! I love the idea of leaving them places or passing out around town! I once made a scripture bowl for my husband who works at a Christian university and when students would come to chat he’d offer them one. Often it was just the verse they needed that day. God’s word never returns void so we should always offer it up!
